The Time Period

Lastly, to fully be prepared for writing my QRG, the time period of the story needs to be assessed and documented.

Local News Stories:

A news story in 2013 in Connecticut talked about the past and future of protecting animals from lab testing and abuse. Another news story in Connecticut during the time of the over-vaccination debate that isn't related to my article is the very famous and very devastating Sandy Hook shooting.

National News Stories:

In Philadelphia, a homeless dog was taken to they pet hospital and nursed back to health, showing the importance of caring for even homeless pets. Also, there was a U.S. research lab that does tests on farm animals to 'keep up with the 21st-century'. Basically, the lab is unethically harming the animals in order to get more meat and babies from them.

Global News Stories:

In Mexico City, in January of 2013, a new legislation is put forth to give a hefty punishment, usually jail time, for the mistreatment of wild and domestic animals. Another global story in January of 2013 was a Sweden company planning to fly over 200 beagles to a business in the UK to use them for animal testing for medicines. A rally was held and many protests were put forth.

I didn't find many articles that directly related to the vaccination of animals, but there were many on animal rights and various veterinary practices. As far as local news goes, there was an article that spoke about animal abuse and the problems with that which can connect because many people think that over or under vaccinating is a form of animal abuse. Nationally, there were many other animal rights issues going on where a research lab was doing unethical testing. There was also an article on the importance of caring about homeless pets as well. Globally, in Mexico City there was legislation passed to punish those who mistreated animals and rally against a Swedish company that was providing animals to be tested on. Overall, there were many animal rights issues being talked about, mirroring some of the beliefs brought upon by the vaccination debates.
